Three years ago, Servant’s Song Publishing became official. It was an ambitious dream for someone jumping straight into business when all my peers were heading off to college—who was I to think I had the skills to run a business?
I didn’t think I had the skills; I just knew I had the gumption to build them along the way.
I talk more about how Servant’s Song Publishing came about on my About Me: Little Business, Big Dreams page. In this post, I’ll be talking instead about three things:

Servant's Song Publishing over the years . . .
Registered my business, started taking clients through Upwork, and found experts to learn from, because I had more determination than knowledge.
Found my brand colors and started to put together who I was, what I did, and . . . got way ahead of myself (knowingly) as I jumped into everything at once instead of doing one thing at a time.
Finally had the words and knowledge to share my vision, but not the time. Turned my focus to existing client work, building an Instagram presence, and finishing my debut novel.
These Western Winds was published in May, leaving me free to start pulling the threads of the last three years together into one cohesive plan for the future.
Milestones . . . they look so cool. But what does each mean?
In 2023, it meant I had a knack for words and was eager to learn.
In 2024, it meant I had gained a lot of head knowledge, but hadn’t applied it much.
In 2025, it meant I knew where I was going, what I was doing, and had my “why” well-defined, and was finally ready to act on everything I’d learned.
In 2026, it’s meant wrapping up a chapter of my life and preparing to turn the page to the next. It’s meant embracing parts of myself I suppressed, releasing parts I clung to, and turning plans into actionable steps forward.
My plans for the next 3-5 years, unless the Lord wills otherwise, are ambitious on a scale I would have laughed at three years ago, and I already know that part of the becoming will be painful. That’s growth.
I’ve already seen growth I couldn’t have imagined. Growth so out of character I do laugh at it, even after the fact. For example, four years ago I couldn’t imagine myself being on social media. Now? I am my own brand. Yay.
Okay, I sound underwhelmed there. I meant, Yay! 🫠 Guys, I’m an introvert. I’m doing this because I believe in it, and I believe in the people I serve, not because I have a compelling urge to be in the spotlight (even a small one of my own making).
I really do believe in it.
These last three years have had their ups and downs. Everything was built from scratch. I didn’t do a great job bringing you along for the journey, because . . . I was still learning how. See, I’ve had a mission from the start, but I didn’t always know how to define it, so I bounced around a lot.
I’ll probably still bounce around a lot going forward, because life is way too interesting to stick to one lane as one grows and changes, but there’s a threefold mission that growth fits inside . . . but that’s part three of this post, Where Servant’s Song is Heading. For now, ✨celebration✨ is in order.
Celebratory Discounts ✨and Whatnot✨
If you followed the countdown on my social media the last thirty days . . . that unfortunately wasn’t updated since like . . . day twelve or something because my phone ran out of storage . . . then you know that I was running a handful of preliminary discounts during the last thirty days. I’ll be ticking through the list of prizes and sending them out to everyone who qualified over the next few weeks.

I wanted to do something special for this business anniversary because it was the milestone I set out to hit when I started Servant’s Song Publishing. But it snuck up on me! I wasn’t able to prepare anything elaborate, and I had to set about gathering my notes and setting the next milestone to reach, so what I have is a mismatched handful of math equations:
i.e. You get stuff cheap.

Yes, that’s also the title of the Servant’s Song Store page. You may notice that the ebook and signed paperbacks are now available directly . . . and that the paperbacks come with bookmarks.
Those bookmarks, along with other merch, will also be available to purchase separately. I’ll be adding them to my shop very soon, so keep an eye out! The first batch is already designed, I’m just waiting for a free afternoon to get them uploaded to the website.
Is that a discount? No . . . but it’s cool. 😎
Temporary Pivot Pricing
I’m doing something completely out of the ordinary: halving my copyediting and book formatting rates for the next 3-6 months.
But WHY?
Isn’t that bad business practice?? Yes . . . and no.
I don’t actually like charging indie authors full fair rates in this economy. 🥲 It feels mean even though it’s not.
But that’s not (entirely) why I’m cutting them. There are two reasons:
- I’m rebuilding my portfolio
- I’m ✨experimenting✨ while pivoting some of my goals for Servant’s Song Publishing to see if I can cut prices permanently as I diversify my income and, Lord willing, build a team and expand my business.
In other words, this is for you, for me, and for all of us, and if we can make it successful together, it opens up a whole new world for Servant’s Song Publishing.
Why the portfolio? During the last few years, I was focused so heavily on learning and building the business infrastructure, that building my portfolio has been sporadic and slow. I need reviews. 😂
A whole new world . . .
I need you more than the reviews.
My dream is to build Servant’s Song Publishing beyond my little solo operation. Ambitious? Yes. But I want to make Christian books that bring the light and are free of smut and coarse language easy to publish (indie or trad), easy to find, and worthwhile to read. I want to bring together the authors and professionals who can make that happen (and are already!), and I want to help fight the literary crisis in America and pave the way for the next generation of Christian readers.
I have a roadmap for this, and a timeline, but I can’t share the details yet. 🤫
In order to make this happen, I need to build my following, portfolio, and income as quickly as possible. (Oh nooo, I’m selling you something!) You don’t have to buy! Where Servant's Song Publishing is Headed
I’ve hinted at it a half dozen times, but what is “it”?
Being a solopreneur was never the goal, just a milestone.
I want Servant’s Song Publishing to give Christian creatives the freedom to express what God puts on their hearts, not be bound to the rules of the secular literary world. I want to enable indie authors and trad authors alike, support other bookish businesses, and bring together the community of those who take up the pen as their sword in the war between good and evil.
It’s too early to share what that looks like exactly, but how I’m going to get there is God’s grace, my gumption, and your support.
I’ll be sharing the journey as much as possible on social media, here on the website, and on my Substack blogs, so be sure to follow me!
It might take years . . . you’re a real one if you plan on being there from the start. 🥹
