To kick off October, I am excited to tell you all about the following exciting changes . . . including the introduction of new services and (in a future post) announcing some big projects looming on the horizon!

If you’ve been following me on LinkedIn you know that I’ve had the link to this website up for some time. You probably also know that if you clicked it, there wasn’t much to see at first.

That changed over the summer!

Throughout June and July, my time was largely spent creating a logo and a slogan, and completely redesigning my website.

New Services

Back in 2022, when I got my first editing gig, I had a vision I didn’t know how to achieve; a dream collecting dust on the top shelf of the closet, after a manner of speaking. I started my business offering just two services: copyediting and proofreading, both self-taught.

But who said I had to stop there?

I have been upskilling! For those unfamiliar with that term, it basically means learning new skills and/or improving those you already have.

👉 If you want to get a better idea of what upskilling is and how I use it to better myself and build my business, check out my recent blog post on Substack. 👈

Some of the following are things I already did (writing, for example) that I had to build confidence in before sharing; others are new skills that I have studied hard to become proficient in—and to show others that you really can do anything you put your mind to.

I am highly adaptable in all my work and a fast learner of new styles and genres of writing. In fact, the fresh perspective I bring to new genres enables me to catch commonly missed errors and more easily connect with an audience that may lack expertise in the subject matter.

Here are some of the things I can do for you now:

Writing

• Content Writing

• Copywriting

• Ghostwriting

Words are my thing. Seriously. I won’t vouch for my early childhood stories, but I have been a good writer—with the goal of writing professionally—for years now. I am a whiz with words and a fast learner of new niches and styles.

Editing & Proofreading

You already knew about this one, so it should come as no surprise. What you might not know is that I do more than one kind of editing.

• Developmental Editing (still working on upskilling this one)

• Line/Copy Editing (Yes, I prefer to combine the two, but I also adapt to each client’s needs)

• Proofreading (I know it’s not editing exactly, but it’s closely enough related I don’t know where else to put it)

Typesetting & Formatting

Is there really much difference between the two in the digital age? Eh . . . depends on the project. Regardless, I make your words look good, not just sound good.

I can format documents in whatever your preferred software is, but usually I stick with Microsoft Word and Affinity Publisher (Affinity Publisher is similar to Adobe InDesign). Here are some of the things I can format:

• eBooks

• Paperback books

• Hardback books

• PDFs & Reflowable/Editable Docs

Publishing Support

Because you shouldn’t have to figure it all out on your own.

I have assisted with everything from determining what still needs to be done before publishing (front and back matter, word count, etc.), to helping clients choose sizes, fonts, and book layouts, to troubleshooting why a book isn’t uploading properly to Amazon.

I’m here to be a helping hand when publishing becomes a pain so that you can enjoy the process with less hassle and more happy.*

*Do not correct the editor’s grammar. It says “more happy” deliberately for laughs and alliteration. XD

Custom Projects

We all love personalized stuff, but sometimes you want something more than the standard “build your own [fill-inthe-blank]” options out there.

Planners, calendars, notebooks, worksheets, business cards, and other stationery are all things I can make for you—custom—just how you want them. I do not have the ability to distribute these, but just like your books, there are plenty of distributors out there who can print them for you once we have the design finished—even your local print shops!

That’s a Wrap!

If you liked this overview of what I offer and would like to work together, check out my Services page and contact me for more information!

I can’t wait to work with you!

Blessings,

—Abigail.
