January has passed like the blizzard that never came this winter, leaving behind half-melted ice puddles and surprising new growth on every front.
No, really. My frozen north traded seasons with the sunny south this year. Besides the unexpected sunshine, Servant’s Song Publishing has seen more activity in the last month than it did in six months in 2025.
So, here’s what I’ve been up to!
Writing
I am deeply aggrieved to announce that a sum total of zero new articles were posted on any of my three Substack publications. However, several were written in preparation for February, so stay tuned!
If you haven’t checked those out, then you have a backlog of serial novel chapters to catch up on (Lexi’s List), a handful of theological hot takes (A Piece of My Mind), and some more goofy and business focused articles to read (Going Out on a Whim).
On the novel writing side, there is so much going on! I am deeply entrenched in writing and editing projects that are not my own, but in my spare time Project AISI is moving ahead. It has officially passed the 60% finished mark, and is (hopefully) on track for publishing this spring or summer (probably summer if I’m honest with myself).
Over on my Instagram, you are finally getting real character introductions for Project AISI characters, some fun excerpts, and (because I am constantly adding songs to my AISI playlist) reels teasing my characters with my favorite songs. In other words, if you’re not following my Instagram @servantsongpublishing, you’re missing out. 😁
In other writing news, I am preparing the outline for the serial story that will follow Crumbling Castles, outlining Project Saltwater (first in my NA Grafted In series), outlining a potential anthology submission (Project Beloved, a short prequel to Project Saltwater), outlining Project ASAW (sequel to Project AISI), and outlining a handful of sequel novellas that take place between Project AISI and Project ASAW.
The goal is to jump straight into drafting these once AISI goes to the editor, and we’ll see what I can get finished this year.
I am also, as always, inching ahead in my nonmagical epic fantasy series Project RFTS (the first part of the greater Project CoL). That one will take forever, but the worldbuilding is crawling along (including writing multiple languages because I’m delusional enough to imagine I’m the next Tolkien or something) and the overall current wordcount sits above 30,000 words, although chronologically speaking, only 7,500 words are written.
Business
January was a relatively full month for business. Unless I have a cancellation, I am currently booked solid for at least the first half of February, so if you have editing and book formatting/design needs for March and April, now is a great time to get those on my schedule.
You can pitch your project through any of my socials, email me directly, or use my Contact form. I’ll set up a call (video call is preferred) within 3-5 business days to learn more about your project and walk you through the onboarding process.
I’m still trying to get my website all fancied up, it’s just not my top priority right now and I don’t feel like hiring someone to do it for me. It’s a weekend project. 😅 Soon, however, you’ll see more details concerning my prices and processes for my services clearly outlined here on my website. For now, all the information you need while I wrangle my website into some semblance of order is pinned at the top of my Instagram page.
Everything Else
As for everything else, I have quite forgotten what I was going to include here, so that’s exciting. 😅 I am breezing through more audiobooks this year than last year, if you want to fight in the comments about whether those count as reading.
Anyhow, at long last, we come to the conclusion of my too-long January recap.
What you can expect moving into February:
More business content, hopefully! Also, more Project AISI content, an updated website by the end of the month, some Substack articles, and I may or may not be looking at starting a Kickstarter and recruiting a Street Team to get AISI over the finish line in the next few months, so keep an eye out for Street Team applications!
On that Kickstarter concept . . . I am very torn on whether this is a good idea. I would love to do one and put together Kickstarter goodies for my readers: bookmarks, stickers, maybe even a special hardcover edition . . . 🤭
But who am I kidding? It’s a debut—does anyone even want to back a Kickstarter for a debut novel? Let me know in the comments if you would be interested in joining the final push to not only get this thing published, but also get merch and other goodies, and signed copies of Project AISI. 😉
Signing off,
~Abigail, The Editor
